Who We Are

🌎 We’re a youth-powered movement that has been changing lives around the globe since 2013 through orphan sponsorship. Our goal is simple: to fund the lives of 99 orphans in poverty-stricken areas where children live without access to necessities like housing or food.

Our Story

The 99 Orphans Project started with a group of elementary, middle, and high school students who dreamed of sponsoring 99 orphans through Zakat Foundation of America. In 2013, we were a student activist group based in Delaware that mobilized to spread awareness about orphans around the world. We became determined to meet our goal, and we succeeded. We never stopped there, sponsoring 900+ orphans in total almost 8 years later.

We’re now known as the 99 Orphans Project, an organization built by passionate youth working to build the agency and skills needed to change the world, one orphan at a time. We are completely a youth project, organized and managed by kids around the country with the supervision of adult mentors. We have joined together to make a difference in other children’s lives. Throughout the years we’ve held community events and other creative projects to help house, feed, educate and care for vulnerable children around the world.

We have received recognition from government officials like the governor of Delaware, the mayor of Wilmington (Delaware), and the Jefferson Awards Foundation, a prestigious national organization honoring community and public volunteerism in America.
